I have a Tom Tom GO 700 and the Mexico map on it. I have the activation code, but I do not know how to activate it on the gps. The tom tom does not show this map to select it. I remember years ago when I activate Europe Maps a green screen, but now I do not know how to reach this screen where the tom tom ask for the activation code.
You can activate products by connecting the unit to a USB port of a computer. If The Tomtom Home application is installed on computer it will launch and update the unit. On page 1 of main Home menus there is an icon for activation.
To make things easy for you I am enclosing a screen capture from the HOME 2.7 application.
The activation option in the HOME application is for activating products that are already installed on your GPS but cannot be used until they are properly activated.
As to maps, if your GPS has an SD-card slot, copy the map on a card with appropriate capacity and try to use it.
To do so Tap the screen and go to Change preferences. Look for Manage Maps and the switch map option. The screen displays all tghe maps available on the internal memory and the SD-card. If the new map shows in the list and select it. (It will not show if you are not authorized to use it.)

SOURCE: update maps for Tom Tom Go 700, including those for East Europe
Even when you do that it doesn't really update it just updates the software so that it looks like you can update the maps but when you touch to update it just tells you, you have to get an updated map for about $100.00 US. This is bull because you pay upward of 400.00 for this GPS. Then you have to pay pay and pay out of pocket over and over again. So there should be a way to update the map without coming out of pocket every year. The really funny thing is that I got mine about 1.5 years ago and the maps were about 3 years old if not more. Now they even want money to update POI now. Which they probably charge the owner of a business to have his address and number available for the consumer that has this line of GPS available? Tom Tom should probably take a look at other brands like Garmin for instance and see why they are doing so much better in sales because there maps are better. But like any computer its always the software that make it or breaks it in this market.....
