The only channel we seem to be able to use is the same as all the local taxis and delivery people. We have mislaid the instructions can any one help please
Basic Instructions for Technika Model TA-13
On this model there are 7 buttons:
Left to Right these are:
PTT, Push to talk on lh side as screen faces you.
Power/Menu
Scan
Call
Down
Up
Torch Light (on rh side)
Assuming you have used the power button to turn on the radio, the default channel after installing the batteries is 1 or else the last channel to be used.
Press the power/menu button once-briefly, (the current channel will flash for about 10 seconds.) Then use the Up and Down arrows to change channel. Wait for the remaining few seconds and the radio will return to normal operation.
Press the menu button twice, the letter H or L will appear and can be altered by the Up and Down keys to change the power level of the radio. I think this is transmit power which may help you avoid infuriating local taxi companies. Switch back to High power when you're about to go out for the night and need a ride.
Press the menu button three times. This will turn off Squelch control and make a terrible din. Not terribly useful unless you want to pick up a really weak signal (or find out where the taxi driver has taken your neighbour.)
An easy way of finding a channel is to press and hold the Scan button and then the device will rotate through the available channels looking for a signal. When someone transmits, the scan will pause and you can capture it by pressing the PTT button for a second or two. I have found this helpful in pairing my radios with other sets, or picking out channels that work with friend's radios.
Finally, Volume control is really simple, just up and down when not in any other mode.
I had the instructions, which I think included a mention of all available channels I'll scan and post them if ever I find them. hope this part helps though.
Hi again,
If my understanding is right, the Technika TA-13 is an European PMR446 system. It is the European version of the USA's Family Radio Service (FRS). It is basically designed:
1. for unregulated use of anybody;
2. 8 channels, 500mWatts power, 446MHz operating frequency;
3. Ch8 is normally the general calling channel;
4. Pressing the up/down would change the channel;
5. the display on both radios must be identical (including the small figures) for them to pair up;
6. the "S" normally means Scan channels, the "C" would be clear or cancel, PTT (press to transmit) is on the left side, some versions have the power switch together with the volume control, others have a soft switch at the front.
Sorry about the instruction manual, no luck getting a downloadable copy.
Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Copy your post changing channels -
Select channel of your choice,
press PTT
should stay there till you change.
if you power off, it will go back to 8 soon as you power up again,
if "Scan" is enabled, it will move among the different channels looking for a busy channel (which would be the 1 in your area).
to disable "Scan", press the "S" button till an icon in the display disappear.
Cheers
Sorry....in your version, that should read as -
"if you power off, it will go back to 1 soon as you power up again,"
Glad to be of assistance and appreciate the rating.
