Theres a tiny hole at the back if you look with a torch where the TomTom connects to the cradle

there is a small reset button you can push with a pin. Revived my "dead" 910...

I am sorry to be the giver of bad news. Unfortunatly , nothing can be done without a product code that authorises the maps. The only way is to buy a map from tomtom and it will come with an activation code.
Basicly , in your case , its like having a car and losing the key . The only way to use the car is to pay out and buy another key , or pay out and get someone to change the locks . Either way , you have to pay .... sorry !
One last method is to get some car thief to brak the lock and hot-wire the car ...... but you will have a broken door lock and broken steering lock ................ same with your tomtom , there are ways to force it to work ( hacks ) , but these ways are dodgy and you will then have an unauthorised tomtom with hacked maps.
