Brand new never used Whirlpool Microwave ..when plugged in gives error F2.Q1 Touch FMEA. Does not even turn on.
One thing to do before you start disassembling the door:
The touch pad connects to the turntable and other functions via a pair of connectors just to the left of the lights. Since these are located directly above the stovetop's cooking surface, your problem may be moisture accumulation on these connectors.
1. Remove the bottom panel; and locate these connectors.
2. Disconnect and clean both sides of these connectors with electrical contact cleaner.
3. Reconnect and test.

I have a KitchenAid over the range microwave/convection oven that gave me The F2.Q2 screen of ***** error this evening. I tried the above, had to take the plastic connector apparatus completely apart as I found it was not assembled correctly with the connectors, put it all back together, cleaned the male part of the turntable connector, reattached, and boom! Working like a charm again. THANK YOU!!
Ditto on trying the above post from Aug 26, 2009. Removed the 11 Torx screws on the bottom of the microwave and found one of the connectors disconnected. Net/net 10 minutes of work saved me a $125 service call. THANK-YOU!!!

Not sure what you mean by "Q1 Touch FMEA" above, but F2 error code indicates a bad keypad or sometimes a bad sensor.
Since it's brand new I would first consult the manual. If you don't have it still, you can download it from the owner center here: http://whirlpool.com/custserv/index.jsp
If you still have trouble, since it's new, it should obviously be under warranty, so I'd contact them (same page as shown above) to get it repaired under warranty.

We also have a new Whirlpool model GH7208XR with the same error F2.Q1 Touch FMEA. The microwave worked fine for the first day or so then this error appeared occasionally and now it is constant. When it would come up you couldn't turn the light or fan on or off. If the they were on they would stay on and couldn't be shut off (except by unplugging the power of course). If off when the error appeared nothing could be turned on.
Well called a Whirpool service person to come out will let you know what the problem is, Thanks for the help
The problem is the sensor and the touch screen. The parts have to be replaced. If anyone else has this problem call whirlpool and they will get them replaced. THanks for all the help
A repair person came out, it is the touch screen. We had it replaced and now it works great.
Used the microwave for a few days. During cooking it would stop with the F2.Q1 touch FMEA error code. The error code now stays on most of the time. Guess its time to call the manufacturer. July 14, 2008 Judy Daleq
