Hello, I have an Acer 8920G laptop which uses the Jmicron JMB38X SD controller. My current operating system is Windows 7 and my problem is that even after a clean install of the Jmicron drivers my computer still cannot read an SD card? I have looked in ''device manager'' in the Windows control panel for errors and there are none no yellow flags nothing. I have tried a clean install of Windows twice I have updated every single driver I can on Acers website rebooted a million times and still nothing comes up. It is noteworthy to say that the card I'm using is a standard 2GB SD card not an SDHC or anything above 2GB. I know the SD card is working as it has been tested on 3 other machines and it works great. I have also tried other cards SDHC in 16 & 32GB variations and still when I put the card in nothing happens no sounds nothing apart from the card clicking into place. The only interesting thing I can say that does happen is that when I delete all the drivers, reboot and then insert an SD card into the slot, Windows tries to find the driver for the device!! After the driver is installed and I reboot or even if I don't reboot the cards cannot be read. I have tested the SD cards with a clean install of Vista and with Windows 7. I have updated driver from both Acers website and Jmicron. I've sent the computer to Acer and they told me with there test hardrive the sd card drive worked but they did'nt tell me with what os they used but like I have said there have been tow clean installs and nothing! I have even gone so far as to replace the motherboard and still the sd card reader does not work!! Can you help?
