When the power is disconect from the computor and reconected the primary IDE does not load if i move the hard drive to the secondary and the cd drives to the primary it will then load,
or if i just use the reset button and not switch the hard over it will load as long as i do not remove the power suply
Many new motherboard does not recognize slave mode on if single ide drive connect
verify both drive set is master or not after that you attach to primary your harddrive and secondary cdrom
your reset problem is wirering connection see your motherboard manual

thanks for your help the reset is not the problem as it does as it should,
its not a new board its a problem that has developed,
i have two hard drives and two roms,
primary drive hard drive one and two (master & slave) if you disconect the power suply and reconect it will not get past IDE detection stage it locks there then press the reset button and it boots fine,
if i put the two hard drives on the secondary (master & slave) it all boots ok and also the primary does reconize the two cd & dvd roms
