I am sorry but lexmark dose not support downloading of there OCR software over the internet you will have to purchase a copy of if from a store such as staples. I am sorry for the inconvenience my opinion is you should be able to down load it from them but they want extra money for it.

I need the OCR software for the printer. Windows XP version.
After scanning the text files and saving them as tiff or jpg image files you use OCR programs to convert these files to text files.
There are commercial OCR and freeware OCR programs available.

Ocr software missing. did not scaning
You can install the OCR software from the CD. Run the Setup and you should probably see an option to install "Additional software". Choose "Abbyy...", this is the OCR software you need.
If you don't have the CD anymore you will probably have to call Lexmark Customer Support to order one. I don't think the OCR software is available for download.

X5495 - OCR Program Missing.
Do you have MS Office 2003 or 2007? If so, there is a Microsoft Document Imaging tool that you can use to scan text documents. You can also search www.download.com for free OCR tools you can use for the same purpose.

Lexmark X2500 driver is missing OCR software
Sometimes companies only support only the basic drivers. The OCR software is on the CD (s) that came with the printer. Suggestion. Try to order the original CD from Lexmark., or search Ebay for programs that have OCR capability. You can use OCR programs from other vendors as long as they are stand-a-lone programs. Just make sure you have the original disc so as not to infringe on copyright privileges.

Note: you can buy OCR programs. Check Ebay and Amazon. They are usually better that the programs that come on the OEM disk.
