The freezer should be set at 4 or 5 to start. If that is not cold enough then move the temp knob to 6 or 7 to get it colder. the higher the # the colder it will get. Onse you set the new temp it will take around 4 hrs to get to the new setting.

This could be normal for the summer. This is the right temp to keep it at. Some units are meant to run 80 - 90 % of the time. Turn it all the way up and check the temp. Most units when working properly can get below 0. Check the condensor underneath for dirt and to see if the fan is running under there. (smaller units don't have anything underneath) Some have coils in the rear and the smallest units just use the sides of the cabinet to disperse the heat. Check the gasket see if its sealing properly or maybe the door is warped and not closing at the bottom.
