Hi,when a phone says insert Sim when there is Sim card, Means that either the Sim card is bad or the Sim tray where you insert Sim is bad.
First use the Sim card on another phone and see if it will work, if the Sim card works, that means the Sim card tray will need to be replaced.

This phone is NOT 3G compatible (it's just it's name ...) if your Tmobile card is 3G it will not work. All CECT phones are factory unlocked !

This problem arises sometimes because the mobile is unable to read the SIM. May be you should fold a small piece of paper in the same size of the SIM and keep it on top of the SIM and then insert the Battery. I think this will solve your problem.
