I understand, that the error code is telling me there is a problem with the memory. I purchased a 1 Gb memory stick, guaranteed to work on the EPoX EP-8K3A+ motherboard, but I'm still getting the same error code. Now I must admit, prior to this purchase, I obtained incompatible memory and tried loading it. Nothing happened, getting the same error code, I tried reinstalling the old memory, and still nothing. I'm not sure, but installing incompatible memory may have damaged the board, I have no idea? Is this possible? I'm guessing it is possible. If the board is fried, I'm looking for an identical replacement, or something similar, any ideas? I guess this is two questions.

First with the original memory installed, Unplug the power cord, remove the button cell for the RTC/BIOS, press the power button(to Dissipate any stray volts) reinstall button cell and reset BIOS/CMOS. Hopefully with the bios back to default everything should come up ok. Next goto crucial.com and check for memory compatibility either with the config tool or enter MOBO info.

I hadn't thought of your suggestion, thanks for proposing it. As suggested, I unplugged the power cord, I removed the button cell for the RTC/BIOS, (the watch battery). I pressed the power button and the reset button, to dissipate any stray volts. I reinstalled the watch battery, plugged the power cord back in, and gave it a try, still getting the same error code off the motherboard, "C1" Oh well,... wanted to thank you for the suggestion anyway, it was a very good idea!
