When monitor is plugged in and powered on, the orange light on monitor comes on and laptop detects monitor. Nothing more is happening, can the monitor be faulty?
Hi, thanx for replies - the monitor is selected on laptop to be used as the extended one, the monitor does not want to switch "on" - green light on power button does not want to turn to green, it stays on orange, which makes me to think that the monitor could be faulty? I tried to disconnect monitor and not even the test signal on monitor wants to come on.Hi, thanx for replies - the monitor is selected on laptop to be used as the extended one, the monitor does not want to switch "on" - green light on power button does not want to turn to green, it stays on orange, which makes me to think that the monitor could be faulty? My monotir was doig the same thing - going orage but never turning green and coming on. Now it won't turn on at all. It is past warranty almost 2 years old. Is there anyhing I can try on my own before I chunk it? The board looks fine, no visible burns or damage. My monotir was doig the same thing - going orage but never turning green and coming on. To activate the monitor, right-click your desktop, click properties, go to Settings Then click on the blue square with 2 in it. Now select 'Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor' Now click Apply Change the screen resolution if needed, the monitor should work now.
OK, I'm pretty sure your monitor is defect then. You could double check by connecting the monitor to another computer. If it still doesn't work, it's defect... If warranty is valid, contact dell about repair or replacement.

Have you made sure the laptop is outputting the the monitor? Does the monitor have dual inputs? if so check it is switched to the correct one. With the laptop turned on and connected, switch the monitor on and off.
