Timer has non-replaceable capacitor battery for 15 minute carryover during power outage. Timer can be affected by radio and TV receivers. Unplug those devices and check if function is restored. Reset timer and program again. If timer function is not restored after reset, then buy new timer. It appears that you should have an ej353 instead of the ej351c. If the switch that you are removing has a red, white, black and copper wire on it, it sounds like you are replacing a 3 way switch. The model ej351c switch is made for a single pole switch and not a three way switch.
