Dvd player is saying wrong region and will not play dvd

You did not specify what kind of DVD player this is? Since you said player, and not drive, then I will assume this is a dvd player you hook up to your TV, not install in a computer.

Simple answer, you can not change the region code on a DVD player, unless there is a known hack listed on a website.

Therefore, your only option, is get a region free dvd player. They are cheap and easy to get on amazon.

try to make it region free by using the steps below

1 Press power on
2 Press set-up
3 Select preferences menu
4 Press play
5 Input 251131
6 Press "Left" then "Down" button
Should show region code
7 Select region
8 Press set-up to confirm and exit.

4 Select preferences menu
5 Press play
6 Input 251131
7 Press "Left" then "Down" button
Should show region code menu
8 Select region free by hitting the 10/0 button, this will change the region to region free (ie 0)
9 Press set-up to confirm and exit.

1 Before powering on, open the lids, remove any media and leave it open so you can actually see the compartment where you place a disc.(this is how you get access to the preferences menu)
2 switch on unit from the side of the drive

Now on the remote control

4 Select preferences menu

Should show region code menu

region codes are as follow. Region 1 North America, Region 4 South America, Australia, Region 2 Europe, Region 5 Asia Major,Africa,Region 6 Asia Minor, Probably your DVD is from another region....hope this helps
