Samsung MTP function Problem Solution It really worked for me.

1.)first copy umdf.exe from "wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe" to your Desktop, two methods:

a)unpack wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe(ex:with TotalCommander->Alt+F9) and copy umdf.exe to your Desktop

b)run the wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe(if you run it will extract the %TEMP% folder)
Click Start -> Run -> %temp% [ENTER]
Press F3 and search for "umdf.exe"
Copy this file to your Desktop
Cancel the WMP11 Setup

2.)Rename the folowing files, just copy&paste into your Command Prompt:

rename C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\wudfrd.sys test_wudfrd.sys
rename C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\wudfpf.sys test_wudfpf.sys
rename C:\WINDOWS\system32\wudfhost.exe test_wudfhost.exe
rename C:\WINDOWS\system32\wudfsvc.dll test_wudfsvc.dll
rename C:\WINDOWS\system32\wudfx.dll test_wudfx.dll
rename C:\WINDOWS\system32\wudfplatform.dll test_wudfplatform.dll
rename C:\WINDOWS\system32\wudfcoinstaller.dll test_wudfcoinstaller.dll [ENTER]

3.) Now run the umdf.exe and re-install it. After it's finished connect your phone and your MTP problem is solved.

Just to be clear,most players require no special drivers. MSC mode will work...
Most MP3 players require no special drivers. I will try to explain MSC mode and MTP mode and what they mean.
MSC stands for Mass Storage Class. When your player is in this mode, the computer will see it the same way it would see a Thumb drive or flash drive, as a removable disk. It will assign the first available drive letter to your device, as well as one for the memory card (if it uses one and it is installed). MSC is probably the better choice of the 2 modes, and is easiest to work with. Most computers detect the player in this mode without a problem very well and right away.

MTP stands for Media Transfer Protocol. It is a Microsoft standard and is Microsoft's solution to connecting MP3 players and cameras to a w*ndow based Computer. MTP mode must be used in order to transfer ANY Digital Rights Management (DRM) protected content. MP3's downloaded form services like Rhapsody and Napster will only function in this MTP mode.

Most good MP3 players will have both of these modes at the users options.

Although not all do, so it is a good idea to check yours for these settings if you are having connection problems

NOTE: any songs added to your player in MSC mode will not be available in MTP mode and vise-a-versa. In other words You can't see the files added in the other mode and you can not play them.

Some players in the SanDisk line up use Instead, an "Auto Detect" function that is suppose to Automaticly use MTP mode. If MTP mode does not work for any reason, it should default to MSC mode.

Turning on MSC or MTP modes

These settings will vary based on player model and you might have to refer to your users Manual. Chech there web site for a download in PDF form.
  • Turn the player on, if it is not already
  • Navigate to the main menu of your player; this is the same menu that gives us options such as Play, Record, Info, etc...
  • Navigate to "Settings" on the main menu of the player.
  • After navigating to "Settings", you should see an option that states "USB" or "USB MODE"
  • From here we can select MSC or MTP modes (could vary based on player model)
  • Highlight the desired mode and select it, at this point it will roll back to the 'Settings' menu
  • Connect the player to your computer and verify it is connecting in the desired mode.
It should be noted, when a device is in MSC mode, it will appear as a "Removable disk". When connected in MTP mode, it will show up as an "Audio Device".

Now most players now days can and will use`MS W*ndows Media Player. You can also try to reinstall W*ndows Media Player 10 or 11

This may be hard to do if you do not have permission to change the computers settings. The Sony uses what is called MTP mode to load files. Sony support has two programs on their site that lets you add files to your player. One program is called Media Manager for Walkman. If using a public use computer they may not let you install a new program on the mach. Using a Sony or an iPod on a public computer may be a bit tricky. they want you to use one computer only to be the main setup for any transfers. Now what does MTP stand for. .MTP stands forMedia Transfer Protocol. It is a Microsoft standard and is Microsoft's solution to connecting MP32_bing.gif players and cameras2_bing.gif to a w*ndow based Computer. Just to be clear, no special drives are necessary. MSC mode will work out of the box with just about any OS. MTP mode will work as long as you have WMP 10 or 11 installedFirstly, lets explain MSC mode and MTP mode a bit.

SanDisk has provided both of these modes at the users options on MOST of the entire Sansa Line mp3 players. The c200, and The View, do not have these 2 options in every version of firmware. Instead those players use an "Auto Detect" function that is suppose to Automaticly use MTP mode. If MTP mode does not work for any reason, it should default to MSC mode.




Switching between MSC and MTP modes

It says files missing need h10 recovery tool
Hello,

When the H10 comes up with the information "files missing", system files are missing on the player for proper functionality.
The recovery tool must be run to restore the player's functions.

When not having the tool available on disk it can be downloaded from
the iRiver site, starting here:
http://www.iriver.com/flash/index.asp?code=0302
In the second column next to GO, enter the word recovery in the bar.

Click on the upgrader, to see how to perform the recovery for the MTP version of this type of player.
MTP version indicates that the firmware on the player is suited for transferring media using Windows Media Player 10 or 11.

The version depends also on the region, the player has been sold. More info for checking the MTP or MSC version, see:

Computer not reading
check to see if the media player has syncronization functions working and update drivers for MTP device as well as the media player. Check to make sure the hardware add indicates proper detection and not a yellow ? because it is only recognizing its usb.

Driver for sansa e270 for win xp os
Install Windows Media Player 11. The Sansa drivers, and MTP system, are part of WiMP10 / 11. Windows XP "out of the box" has WiMP9, which may be your problem.

The Sansa can function as a flash drive in MSC mode, but your files transferred in MTP will not be available on the PC side.

The Sansa does not require specific drivers from SanDisk, as it's integrated into WiMP.

Go under menu, setting and change the device to MTP or playforsure..
