Linux Install I am trying to install a Linux distro (Ubuntu) o my laptop in place of the existing Windows XP Pro. For some reason this is taking forever and going nowhere. Is the laptop too out of date?

Simple solution (if I had paid attention). The linux loader (Ubuntu) uses more memory than I currently have loaded on the machine. I wasn't aware I was that underloaded memory-wise. Watch your loader. It will usually tell you what it needs in the way of RAM.
