Hello

Press and hold both the PAUSE key and FEED key while turning the printer power ON.

Release both keys anytime after the first front panel LED turns OFF.

The PAUSE and FEED keys together reset the printer to the default settings. These values

are not saved in EEPROM, but may be saved by sending the ZPL command ^JUS or

saving through the LCD on the deluxe front panel. After entering factory defaults, the

printer will remain in the paused state to let the operator know that the defaults have been

loaded.

I have experienced similar issues between two zebras. I found that the driver was the issue. I recommend:
  1. Confirm the operating system your using. [32 or 64 bit is important]
  2. remove old driver and install new driver from Zebra's support website. https://www.zebra.com/us/en/support-downloads.html
  3. If you are still having issues after all that, I really must recommend contacting Zebra as your printer may be defective and may be under warranty for service or replacement.

Zebra QL420 portable printer label gets misaligned frequently
There are two things to consider here: 1) Is the printer set to the correct media handling setting? Look in the manual for the terms BAR-SENSE and GAP-SENSE and make sure that you have sent the correct command to the printer. 2) There is a TOF or Top of Form setting that you can send to the printer to align the perforation of the labels with the tear bar. Look for the syntax in the manual, which is free for download at zebra.com, and make sure that your perfs line up with your tear bar.
