I'm having a problem with lighting the oven on my new Verona Range. The installer has been attempting to light the oven by following the directions in the manual, and it will light when you push the knob in, but the flame goes out once the knob is released.

Hi there you need to change the ffd on your oven FFd stands for flame faliure device. its like an temperature controlled switch. it is located in the oven and this device is what lets the gas go through once it has reached a certain temp. It must only be done by a corgi qualified engineer and to be honest your loooking at about 100 pounds.

actually you shouldnt really be fooling around with gas without a proper licence we have to go to college for quite some time to be able to handle gas safely but hey hope you dont blow yourself up !!!!!

You need to tighten down the orifice spud for the bake burner. Remove drawer in bottom of oven. Look for bottom of burner tube, where the shutter adjustment is. Right below it is the orifice spud. Usually a goldish color. Take 1/2 inch open end wrench and tighten until it stops. Do-not overtighten! Try it now. If flames are still to high, tighten a little more. Repeat if needed.

When the oven safety valve refuses to open and let gas through, it's almost always because not enough current is flowing through the ignitor. Often an aging ignitor will appear to be glowing pretty brightly but still won't draw enough current to make the valve open. The first thing to try replacing is the ignitor.

You describe your ignitor as "red and glowing" but oven ignitors normally get a lot brighter than "red" -- well into what I'd call yellow.

hello!! if you changed the thermocouple & the pilot still goes out !! could be a thermostat ( the electromagnet pilot safety ) goes bad !! make sure pilot is clean & should be sharp BLUE pilot !! not yellow & soft !! also hold down the button light the pilot use a digital volt meter set on dc milivolts a brand new thermocouple should test @ 30 milivolts+ - ! & if you have new style water htr with sealed combustion the thermocouple has a safety part of it ! change the thermocouple & make sure your vents for combustion air around the bottom of the water htr has lint & dust built up !!! kiddbrother i work for a gas company doing service !!
