Hello Lyndance678,
The maps should have come with an unlock code that needs to be input to install and activate them on the GPS. This code is similar to the product codes used by Microsoft and other software companies to prevent piracy. Typically the code should be printed on the CD jacket or on a certificate that came with the map CD.
