Usually called the CMOS battery, Usually a CR2032 (Liion battery - circular bright silver/nickel coating, about the size of a 10p piece)

Found on the motherboard, kept in place by a small spring clip, press a screw driver against the clip. If still unsure, have a search on YOUTUBE, there'll be a video there.

754n will not hold memory when shut down and powered back on

This is a little confusing. Memory clears out when you shut down your computer. When you start back up, you'll start filling the memory with what you are doing. There is no way to recall what was in memory. var fctb_tool=null; function FCTB_Init_e1fd0454766b4afcbb0ab2235b4516a3(t) { fctb_tool=t; start(fctb_tool); }

Reset BIOS on HP Pavilion a750w

Fastest way to reset BIOS is to remove the CMOS battery (looks like a large watch battery on Motherboard) for 30 minutes. After you replace the battery, the BIOS should reset to default. If further problems arise involving the BIOS, it's possible the CMOS battery is bad.

Heat sync bracket for 754n broke and heat sync is not attached

If it is only a bracket you can try to buy only it or whole heat-sink kit. You can search the Web - I found it at http://www.prontotech.com/product/hewlett-packard-da193a-heatsnk-hp-p_984992439
You can check out www.newegg.com too, they have plenty of this kind of stuff. eBay.com is a good option to find used parts.

I have an hp 754n that will not turn on.. the green led on the back is lit up but when i hit the on off button nothing happens

i would say there is a problem with the motherboard, you could check to make sure the power supply is connected, if you don't know what a motherboard or power supply is, i would advise that you take the computer to a technician, you could injure yourself, or ruin the computer completely if you attack it with a screwdriver
