I'm guessing this is a wireless router in which case you need to look at the router configuration and enable some security features such as changing the access rights and your admin password.
Usually typing the ethernet router IP address on the in your Internet Explorer address box will bring up the configuration.
Having an open router path to the internet for other wireless users is fine by the way. And unlikely to comprimise your security. You simply become a free mini ISP.
But if you feel it is slowing your own usage then block it.
