My television was on this morning and the screen went black and the power light on the front went off and it seems like it is getting no power. So far I have: Checked the socket, power is on Checked the power plug cord on back of screen, plugged in ok Plugged and unplugged tv several times Tried to turn it on with remote and using switch on tv It has not responded to anything so far Is there a reset button somewhere?

Unfortunately from what your are describing the problem will be in the main power section of the tv. This means a trip to the repair shop.

The actual problem could be fairly simple but the real problem is how much will it cost to get it fixed. So you need to figure out if you have any warrenty either factory or extended store. If you do then get it to the shop. If not covered You need to do a few things first. You want to know what the replacement cost of a new tv is, and then you want to start getting a few repair estimates. If the repair costs are too high you get a expensive used unwarrantied tv that may break again. The hard part is figuring out at what point you need to just junk it and buy the new one if the value of the repairs is less than the new one. That's really your only reference if it is worth repairing. It is definitely repairable but there is no sense spending $400 for a new main board if the new tv is $450 as an example.

If you can find a good repair shop that actualy repairs then the repair cost can be cheap. Unfortunately a lot of repair shops just swap out boards so you spend $400 for a new board when the problem was a 50 cent part.
