Format Error code C:13:01

I have been using a new mini-cd in my camera. I look at the photos that I took using the camera to view them. No problem. When I went to download to my computer (without finalizing--something I have had not trouble with in the past), I came up with the error code C:13:01 and the flashing message "Format Error." Now I can't see the pics on the disk using the camera. Whenever I turn it on, I now get the same message and code. I tried opening the mini-cd in my laptop (running Windows XP) but it does not see anything on the disk--which is what I would expect, not having finalized the disk. After viewing the shots successfully, all I did was turn the camera off then plug it into my laptop using the USB cord and turn it on. That's when the problem surfaced. Any ideas what happened? Have I lost the existing pictures? If I initialize the disk again, will I lose what is already on it and unfinalized? Thanks. I get an error of 13:01 on my disk with picx or with a blank disk

This camera is a gem! try finalizing the disc using nero burning software or any alternative. but dont try this on the disc that has your important pictures for safety reasons.

If you can find software to read UDF (universal disk format) you may be able to recover your pix. Whatever you do -- DO NOT reinitialize or finalize the disk. Your existing pix will certainly be lost if you do.
