Read your manual carefully and you will notice that the big, tall seconds hand is part of chronograph function. So, by pushing upper button you are actually engaging chronograph. This puts more strain on movement gears and consumes more battery power. When your watch is in normal timekeeping mode, the small seconds hand is counting seconds, not the big one which should be steady pointed at 12. I would recommend to put a new battery in your watch, reset it and start using it as described in users manual. You can download users manual here:
