Re: How do I install more memory into my compaq armada...
You want to install memory on a 266 MHz PII?
A standard-configuration Armada 1700 has 32 MB of memory, and is expandable up to 160 MB.
Personally I don't recommend installing memory on this computer (I'd just buy a new one considering this one is pretty old), but if you still want to install memory complete the following steps:
- Remove the battery, floppy and disconnect the power supply
- Underneath the computer, there are several screws with arrows pointing to them. Remove these.
- There is one more screw in the center of the bottom shell. Remove this.
- Remove the laptop's bottom shell.
- Turn the laptop over and remove the keyboard.
- The memory is located on the left-hand portion of the laptop and is enclosed in a memory bay. Snap out the memory and install up to 160 MB SDRAM, assuming you can get your hands on it in the first place.
When finished, replace the keyboard and bottom shells, as well as the screws that you removed. Congratulations!
