To finalize the disk:
Select MENU --> then select: DISC OPERATIONS then select: FINALIZE then select: YES ... to go back to MENU
During the disk finalization, a progress bar is displayed. Close the MENU only AFTER the screen display returns to the DISC OPERATIONS menu

SOURCE: canon dc100 will not finalize memorex disc, which

make sure the power adapter is connected, you can not finalize on battery power alone. also make sure you are in playback mode...it will say original in the top left corner..then you should be able to finalize when you go into the menu

It's possible that, for some reason, the disks aren't compatible. It can almost drive you crazy trying to figure out why. To find out for sure if this is the case, try some new Panasonic discs, with the same specifications as the old ones that worked, and see if they work. If they don't work, you're probably having a dvr issue with the laser lens or related parts within the camera. There are many issues with dvrs that develop over time, requiring replacement parts and service. In those cases, it's usually better to get a replacement camcorder. The new HDD camcorders are immune from a lot of problems inherent with dvr and tape recorders.

I found the solution on this site. You cannot finalize on battery. You have to be plugged on to power to Finalize

I want to transfer my DVD's taken with a DC100 Canon video camera to computer files to share on Facebook & other social networking sites. But I have no idea how to get them from DVD to computer file...

please make sure to finalize the disc before inserting it to the computer.

steps:

1.go to media browser(its the mode where you playback recorded videos)
2.press menu button
3.pres right directional button
4.press down directional button and look for the "finalize" option and press ok

note: plug the camcorder to walloutlet during the process and avoid vibrations and movements with the camcorder. it would be better if you place the camcorder on a stable surface during the process.

-wait until finalization finishes and then insert the disc to computer and then copy the videos to a folder in your computer and so that you can upload them to facebook.

Are you trying to transfer the video to a computer to then burn to a dvd? Make sure before you put the disc in any other device, that the disc is finalized.

Finalize the disc

depends what type of disc-rw's won't highlight sometimes because they don't always need to be finalized to play-insert the disc if r in another brand and see if you can finalize-go to bb or circuit and ask them if you can stick it in display and see if it comes up-if never proably was done already-also try different dvd players

No disc read on dc100

There are only 4 possible solutions,

1. Dirty or faulty discs, but as you've tried different discs this doesn't seem likely.

2. Condensation has developed in the camcorder, leave it in a dry indoor temperatured place for a couple of hours and try again.

3. Dirty lens won't let the laser read the disc. Look for lens cleaning camcorderkit in a store.

4. Manufacturing error

Hope this will help you.
