You can close your browser window by clicking on the red "x" in the top right hand side corner of your screen. The red "x" means "close". The "square" in the center next to the "x" means make "bigger". The - key next to the square in the upper righ hand side corner of your screen means "minimize". "Minimize" means bring the window to the bottom of the screen. It's like tucking it away or hiding it. If your window is full size and you click the minimize button, it will make the screen a smaller square in the center of your monitor. If you click it again, it hides the window at the bottom of your screen. You can see which windows re open by reading the labels at the bottom of your screen. To bring a screen back up to regular size when its minimized on the bottom - just click on it with your mouse.

How to close ie browsers

In order to close IE, you just need to click on the X that is located at the top right of your browser window.

If this does not completely close IE, you can also check to see all the running applications and processes on your computer by visiting the Windows Task Manager.

You can access the WIndows Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + ESC.

My internet window will not close when I x out. It does not respond and will ask after a few minutes if i want to close the program, causing all internet windows to close. Please help!

From what I understand you are now using a new version of Internet explorer or Firefox or chrome browser, all of which use something called tabbed browsing. These browsers open multiple pages in one window as tabs. (Earlier versions of Internet explorer used to open each pages individually, and using the close button will only close that particular window). In tabbed browser each tabs can be closed. If you try to use the close button on the top right hand corner, it will ask whether you want to close all the tabs and close all tabs if answered in affirmative. To close individual tabs click on that particular tab and you will see a small X on the right hand side of that tab. Use it and only one tab will be closed.

Problem getting netzero download to download computer says need to close i need to close explorer browser sites but none are open

Please note that I am using Windows XP so Vista may be slightly different but mostly similar.

Press Ctrl+Alt+Del and open the "Task Manager". Click "Processes" tab and check the box next to "Show processes from all users". Look for the file name of the web browser you are using and here are two common web browsers.

Microsoft Internet Explorer - iexplorer.exe (If you close explorer.exe by mistake, Windows XP users can go to "Applications", "New Task", and type in "C:/WINDOWS/explorer.exe" or Vista users can simply log out and log in through the task manager.)
Mozilla Firefox - firefox.exe

If you use a different web browser, right click the shortcut for your web browser and click "Properties". The file name will be after the last slash ( \ ) in the target box. File names usually end with ".exe".

Click the file name when you find it and click "End Process" but before you do, you are most likely viewing this with a web browser so this window (and all other windows for your web browser) will close as soon you end the proccess. This means make sure you finish what you are doing and be ready for it to close.
