My problem is that when i tried to update my asus made ati eah5770 graphics card it malfunctioned my computer. I could not increase my resolution from 640*480 and it also shows only 4 colors instead of 16bit or 32bit. than i finally reinstalled my windows. now i want to update my graphics card. please help me. i have another problem. i have acer al1912 lcd and does not allow to increase refresh rate from 60hz and because of this i cannot play games like left for dead 2 and splinter cell conviction and some other games also. please help me.

Have you updated the drivers for your ATi 5770 card. This is probably why you encountered such low a resolution. I suggest you go to AMD website and download the latest drivers.

On the website select the relevant options:
Step 1) Desktop Graphics
Step 2) Radeon HD Series
Step 3) Radeon 5xxx PCIe
Step 4) your operating system

Then click Display Results.
Then download the Catalyst Software Suite. It's about 51Mb.

With regards to your monitors refresh rate. I myself am running a 23" wide LCD at 60Hz and I can play every game fine including Left 4 Dead 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction. This then brings us back to the driver update.

Go to www.ati.com and download an updated driver for the 5770 When you install the software you'll have the chance to install or uninstall you want to uninstall so this will remove any old ati drivers that might be causing this problem. Then go back after you restart the computer and run it again but this time install the new drivers and this should take care of your problem.
