Re: How do i reset the setting on ti 89 becuase it...
Press MODE. Use down-arrow to move to the "Display Digits" line, press right-arrow, and pick an appropriate display mode. The FIX settings will display that many digits to the right of the decimal point, while the FLOAT settings will suppress trailing zeros.
I can't tell if you would like your calculator to display more digits or use decimals instead of fractions so here is both directions.
A. DISPLAY MORE DIGITS
1. Press Mode
2. Scroll Down to Display Digits (the default is Float 6)
3. Press the right arrow key (->)
4. Scroll to select how many digits you would like to display between 1 and 12 (example, for 10 digits select Float 10)
5. Press Enter
6. Press Enter again
B. DISPLAY DECIMALS INSTEAD OF FRACTIONS
The TI-89 default setting is to provide answers in fractions when possible.
If you would like to see the decimal (approximate) answer for a given equation or polynomial press the green diamond key before pressing enter.
If you would like to set the TI-89 to display all answers in decimals automatically follow these steps.
1. Press the Mode key
2. Scroll down to the Exact/Approximate option (it will be on auto by default)
3. Press the right arrow (->)
4. Select Approximate
5. Press Enter
6. Press Enter again
