You need to have the correct keys loaded into the pinpad. If you got the pinpad from some place other than from your processor, you are out of luck. They will only load the keys when the pinpad is physically in their possession.

The terminal has a setting to tell it whether to use the external or internal pinpad. Yours is still set for internal. Call your merchant services provider and they will change the pinpad setting so that you can use the external PP100SE.

if the intrenal battery is bad you will also get a tamper error, battery needs to be replaced and reload or inject encryption.

what type of errors? most pinpad errors deal with encryption issues. if you have power cycled the terminal and the pinpad and the issue still arises it is most likely encryption.

Veriphone "Bad mac"

is your verifone you are talking about is a pinpad 1000se or the creditcard machine (VX510, VX570 etc.) and bad MAC (message authentication code) and i believe if the machine is not encrypted right or the encryption was errased for some reason, bad mac will appear. I've seen some of bad mac error together with tamper error on VerifonePinpad because the battery is going bad. Replaced battery and load the encryption, pinpad works again.
