It sounds like the wireless antenna inside your PS3 is defective. Assuming you are on warranty, they should easily replace that part OR the entire system at an approved service center. Please let me know if this helps.

i am from greece.when i had 1 wireless controller everything was ok.when i bought the second one when i was playing with one or both controllers suddenly they closed and to use them again i had to connect the usb cable.please help me,i can't stand this anymore...
done a system update, since then my dualshock3 controller will not sync up with the ps3 system WHAT SHALL I DO??
