Problems There a are quite a few - sometimes the "shift" key doesn't work. Sometimes the computer makes a loud beep when it doesn't want to load the internet. Most of the time, the only way to get the internet to work is to turn the wireless off and disconect from the network, then turn it back on and tell it to reconnect. The most annoying problem is that at least 1x a week the internet locks up and shuts down, and Word, Power Point, or Excell regurally say "not responding." I've spent the last 6 months trying to get these problems fixed. I've called Tech support and taken it in to store I bought if from. At one point it was fixed and the internet worked great for 24 hours, and that I was it. I want to return the computer and get my money back, but I can't seem to figure out how to do that and get a full refund. I want to get a Mac.

I am the old baggy pants tech and I have found that most of the lockup faults and drop out faults are due to --wait for it -----------power pack faults ,they are not able to supply the the required voltage and current to operate most modems.As they are supplied to the manufactures via a third party suppliers.

So apart from chucking your modem in to land fill there may be nothing wrong with it just replace the power pack with one with more grunt and regulated and be happy!

A foot note(size ten) most wall warts are of a chopper system and they age very quickly so go for one that has a transformer with a regulator built in or find a tech that can knock you one up for a bottle of goon (wine) or Scotch

Yeah Mac's wouldnt give you that problem, Heres the thing the shift key wouldnt be software so either there is something stuck like food or some other foreign material underneath the keyboard or if not its just a bad hardware keyboard and could deal with the controller that connects to the motherboard so a new keyboard is to look at here. The loud beep that it makes is weird If it gets very hot its does have an internal alarm to let the customer know that unit is getting to the alarms beep when it heats. If your wireless isnt working it could be your wireless router , next time it doesnt work on you dont turn off the computers wireless just reset your wireless router by turning it off and then turning it on, if this works you can see it was not the laptop it was just a overburned router they tend to last 1-3 years since they have no internal cooling on these wirelesss routers. The unit locking up could be if you installed something not vista compatible or maybe while something was loaded you clicked around and that usually causes it to stop resonding and so forth. Vista surely is a resource hungry product that does have a bad rep as of now but hopefully all works out for you.
