I have a e80 chartplotter about 4 years old.The glare coating is wearing off making it a little foggy. I understand this is a outsource problem raymarine has had and id like it fixed. The unit was over $2500 and has been foggy for a couple of years now, getting worse as time goes on. I thought somehow i scratched it but after reading other postings i see its a glare coat problem, and raymarine would stand by thier product. Ive had no problems with all my other equipment(radar, wind, depth, speed, autopilot,) Thanks, Mike

SOURCE: Raymarine e series malfunction

I have found that many of the issues you are experiencing are a result of operator error (no offense). For the system you have described, you will definitely have a network switch which interfaces everything. Is it possible that the network switch is powered from a source that you dont always turn on? In other words, if the system has multiple breakers and the network sw is tied to one of them, using only one display for example may leave the switch without power and give the error messages you described. Bottom line......BE SURE that the entire system is powered on. Another possible cause is master vs slave. One of the two displays is the master. If you power the system up in the wrong order or without the network switch in the loop, the slave unit will automatically ask you to set it as the master. NEVER do this. Changing the master will result in data loss as you described. Finally, if all of this checks out, verify the software in your displays (the version will appear in the bottom right during start up). Your software should be at least V4.29 but there is a newer version available so if you need to upgrade make sure you get the most recent. Good luck

SOURCE: Connect Ratheon RL 70 to Raymarine E80

The two devices can share Nav data only. No radar, Sonar or Chart will be shared.
Hook the RL70 and the E80 together on SeaTalk and all data will be shared both ways. Alternatively, it could be done with NMEA 0183, which is directional, or you could also translate the RL70 data to NMEA 2000 and share it that way. As long as you have all Raymarine equipment, you are home free using a three wire Seatalk connection, with only two hooked up, Yellow and Bare, color to color.
Remember, this will share Nav Data only.

SOURCE: No depth reading while on plane.

Depending on your transducer type, you may have a liquid filled type that simply needs refilling. If this is the case check for leaks and get it redone. If not it could be transducer placement or cavitation under the hull.

SOURCE: sea talk failure

Remove all wiring from 4000 head, hook up only 12V, if seatalk fail continues, it is the head. if seatalk fail goes away, hook in instruments one by one until the bad head is found. Seatalk is 12V red, Ground Screen(bare wire) and Data yellow (pulsing voltage). good luck 847-746-0100 John Barry
