Focus error show up and can't take any pictures

Had my camera for 18 months now when all of a sudden my camera came up with a "focus error". Powering down/up seemed to resolve the issue, however it appears to have remerged and is permenant rendering the camera useless in respect of taking photos!

Now I'm trying to contact Fujifilm for further advice, but I've heard the repair may be expensive.

I too have the same problem, I have had my camrea for approx 15 months, when the camera is turned on it shows "focus error" across the screen, this renders the camera useless.

I'm totally disappointed with the life of this camera. I've had it for 18 months and I can't take any more photos. I keep getting an error message !AE and the pictures are not visible. This thing cost me $250.00 and this is it? I expected better from FUJI. I'll never try this brand again.

"Focus Error" shows when I turn the camera on and it wont go away. I use this camera almost every day to take pics of my two boys. I had the camera now for a little bit of 2 years.

Had "FOCUS ERROR" appear on my Finepix S9500. The lens seemed to be stuck at the extremity of focus range. I resorted to hitting the camera on a table while turning it off (because this is when it sounded as though the focus motor was trying to move the lens back). Guess what? It worked!!!!!

Yes this worked for me! Can't remember now what led me to these pages last night, my F10 has sat in a drawer with it's lens obscenely stuck out for probably 2 years or more. I'd replaced it with an F11, soon lost, then a another, used, F10, which I exhausted through over use, still works but shutters are sticky and sensor has bits of dust on, and then I recently took advantage of the great Jessops deal on the soon to be replaced F200exr. This latter is fine but I still like the F10. Anyway, clearing out my drawer (a thousand or so obsolete chargers and defunct phones) I found the original F10 with the poky out lens. I had to bang it on its back 3 or 4 times, and hey presto, back from the dead. Thank you Luckybee!

Press HOME on the camera, go over to Settings and into main settings. Under the Main Settings 1, go down to initialize. This will reset your camera. It did the trick for me!
