I was using the timer on my microwave #mmv5207AAB to time something I was cooking. Before the time was up it just stopped & now nothing works, controls, light, nothing. I checked the breaker & it wasn't thrown & I checked the plug & there is power. I removed the stirrer cover & there are no brown or rust spots. Can you help?

SOURCE: intermittant heating

You probably have a new unit by now. The Magnetron part inside usually is the problem with this Maytag unit.I have had this unit blow the 'Magnetron' four times ! Everything else works fine. After watching the technician, I replaced it myself the other 3 times. The whole unit has to come out of the wall to do this. This High Voltage part is dangerous. The part costs about $100.00 from an online parts store. Partselect.com- or someone else.

You should be able to download your owner's manual here.

If not, then I would suggest downloading a few whose model numbers are close to yours to see if they are similar.

Otherwise, you can contact customer service via the links on that page.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Yes, you can paint over the spots and no, it's not dangerous. I'd let the paint thoroughly dry before using the oven -- it could otherwise cause paint to buckle/ripple/etc.
