I am using a casio fx 9860 .... i dont know how to change the mode to linear it and how to do log when the base is not 10 .... like log 2

In Run screen press [SHIFT][MODE] to enter SetUp.
Look for the line Input Mode (it is the 1st on the SD version). Highlight the line then press the TAB at the bottom of screen that says Lin (F2 key). Press EXE when you finish with SetUp.

To use the logab( function,
1. open the Run/Mat screen.
2.Press the OPTN key.
3.Press [F4:Calc].
4. Press [F6:].
5. Press [F4:logab]

the command is displayed on the screen,.
6. Enter the base then the argument).
7. Close parenthesis if you want and
8. press EXE.
Example logab(2,8) =3
