I cannot connect to my company's vpn using my Belkin N600 router. I have been able to connect through hotel routers but while at home I cannot. What settings do I need to change to allow a secure connection.

SOURCE: Belkin F5D9230-4 won't allow a connection to M Exchange server

Login to your Belkin router and check to see if there is a firmware update available for your specific model. If so, download and install it as this may resolve the problem without doing anything else. (Be sure to save your configuration first)

The specifications for a F5D9230 state that it supports VPN passthrough so you shouldn't need to configure anything in the router itself. It may be necessary to open a few incoming ports but only as a last resort.

Would you also reply to this post and specify...

  1. What OS are you running on your pc?
  2. What VPN client are you using on your pc?
  3. Ask the administrator of the Exchange server if they're using PPTP or L2TP for VPN connections.
Another option would be to use OWA (Outlook Web Access) to access your email if it has been installed on the Exchange server.

Did you already forward port 1723? I guess you have done that. To isolate it, try to bypass the router and setup or establish the VPN session there. If it doesn't work, maybe your ISP doesn't allow port 1723 or it's just the modem.
