Question Yes the shutter does open, but the lense physically doesn't come out although I hear that it tries. When I turn off the camera the shutter doesn't always shut... How to I re-initiate the camera?? Thank you

First, i suggest you try this. Remove batteries then press and hold power button for 15 seconds. Wait a further 1 minute then reinsert batteries and try again.
If no good, try this. If you can get to the MENU mode (in stored pics), scroll right to SETUP, press centre button to OK it. Scroll down to SETUP1. Scroll right, then down to initialize which will be lit yellow. Then scroll right and scroll up when ok will be lit yellow then press centre button to OK it. This will return camera to factory defaults including set up language.
