I get an E3 code on my portable A/C and the unit stops cooling. Whats an E3 error??

You need to get on-line and find the service manual for your unit. If the manufacturer doesn't have a down-loadable one, they will usually mail or fax you one. Once you have it, you can identify what the error code is and then work from there. It could be something as simple as a dirty unit. All these units are different in regards to error codes.

If you have a goldstar GP120CE portable air conditioner with the E3 error and it's not under warranty you may be out of luck.When I called LG, (who owns Goldstar), they said these units are not cost effective to repair so finding a company to service them is difficult. If it were under warranty they would exchange it..
