os x 10.8 update just go to software update in the apple drop down menu. Cannot update across platforms. Must be either 10.8 to 10.8.1 or 10.8.2 an so on but not from 10.5 to 10.6

want to update 10.6.8 to 10.6.9 check software update. Go to the apple drop down menu on your computer and select software update. Should be automatic.
