Sorry, I was missing that part. You got it right, though. three hands is the answer. Orrr, you could go get some nice sticky back papers and cheat. They come in a variety of sizes or can be cut from full sheets. what you have there is a good sander to use while you figure out what kind of sander you want:)

Skil sander 7382 T2: End clamps do not hold paper securely enough. can it be tightened?

Those are spring steel and will crack if you try to bend them so just add more sandpaper folds as a shim to tighten the grip.

How to install the collar on a Classic 1845 router?

You insert the bit (1/4") and simply push down on the collar. When ready to remove the bit, simply pull up on the collar, its that simple.

Skil Octo Sander Model 7302.

9 years old, it needs stripping, cleaning, servicing and lubricating. Depending on the amount of use, it may need new brushes in the motor. That is often a quick fix for thing running slowly, but gummed up bearings would be another.
