Where do you find a screw driver to fit the screws in a rowenta 1600W steam iron? escribe your Steam Generator DG050 Iron Problem

  • gnskaggs Aug 31, 2011

That is not much help. Today I checked with Sears repair, Best buy, Lowe's and Home Depot to no avail These screws require a hex head with a hole in the middle. I went to a appliance repair place and they tell me Snap on Tools has this driver. So I just told them to repair the iron.

Hi there,
Are these small screws we are talking about?
You can go to a store like Staples, Best Buy, The Good Guys, etc bring the iron and check the section where they have precision screws.
Small screws can be removed by precision screw drivers. If you go there they can also give you assistance to make sure that the precision screw you will purchase will fit.
Hope this helps!

    Hi there,

It may just be tough luck that they don't have the required screw or the ones you have for this iron is really a unique one.

However, I'm glad that you've found a place to have it repaired, hope they get this done for you in no time.

    Have a good one.

Issues with Rowenta Steam Iron DG 05030 steam hose

Does your iron have a self cleaning feature? It sounds to me like you have calcium build up and when you squeeze the hose it displaces the "clog" just enough to allow steam through.

I have a hinari steam generator iron and the steam has stopped coming through the iron and now coming through the base that the iron stands on!can anyone help please

Check the water reservoir of the steam generator and look for some hairline cracks. Also a clogged tubing will likely to go back water on reservoir inlet water pouring. Once you found the cracks, seal it with epoxy just enough to fill the cracks.
Thanks for asking.

I need to purchase the thermostat/steam generator that is inside the water tank of the rowenta dg050 iron/steamer. where can i find that part? i know it is the problem

I would call a Rowenta service center to find the part and cost. If you are in the US go to the After Sales Service, Service Centers at
http://www.rowentausa.com/rowenta/frame.aspx

If you are outside of the US go to the www.rowenta.com site and select your country.

Rowenta steam generator

Maybe the cap is coated with mineral deposits. Do you use ONLY DISTILLED WATER in the iron? If not, minerals from the water could be the cause. Try pouring some CLR or a similar product over the cap and see if that frees it up . If it does, pour some CLR into the iron's tank, and set it to the highest temperature setting. Run the iron over an old towel to help clean the steam vents. Then fill the tank with DISTILLED WATER and do the same proceedure two more times using DISTILLED WATER ONLY to flush out any remining CLR.

Screwdriver

it is probably a "tamper-proof' Torx head screw and you will need to get a set of tamper-proof Torx bits. Be certain the tamper-proof Torx bit will fit into a bit holder shaft ssmall enough in diameter to fit into any recessed holes that the screws are currently in.
