There is a small thermostat button ontop of the Heater mechanism which has tripped . It has either a red dot or blue dot ontop. Use a pin or opened up paper clip and push through the red wax. It will go click and it is reset. .
It sometimes trips out with a F code which normally trips the machine off because it thinks the Heater unit is on fire.
There is a small disk which costs about £15 to buy which you can change. You will need HEX screwdriver set to change and open up the Heater matrisx to clean the fluff off the element.

Can't comment on tripping your power but see posts on this sight for Hotpoint WD860 for F-13 solutions.

...also if it's less than a year old then you're still in the warranty period I believe. Perhaps you can get Hotpoint to fix this?

SOURCE: machine fault code "f13"

Plug off the wall. There is a thin rubber tube going from the switch area to the exit near the outlet tube. Probably this is blocked. This tube should be free from any blockage; take out the top clip from this tube and blow into it - it should be free, clear the blockage if any and refit. This is the water level tube which tells the machine when to switch off water, etc.....
