Hello,
I assume you have the driver for the new video card if not you can download it from ATI website.
Try booting the computer in the safe mode and remove the driver of the old card, restart the computer and install the driver for your new video card.
You can also put the old video card back and remove its driver then install the new video card and driver.

Your video card is in what's called a PCI slot on the inside of your computer, most computers such as yours have an on board graphics card that's built into the motherboard itself. Thus in this situation you cannot really remove your video card. But if you want to put in a new video card, all you have to do is put in the video card in the PCI slot, and make sure your monitor is hooked onto the VGA, HDMI, or DVI slot. In fact, you can have more than one graphics card on your computer if you needed it.

I need to install a video card on a Sony VAIO VPC-EA36FM. I need instructions., video, etc.

      Make sure that you have the latest drivers from the manufacturer of your new video card.

    • 2

      Remove the video drivers for the current video card. Check the Start menu for any Remove utilities specifically for the current video card.

  • 3 Remove the current video card in the Device Manager. Now you're ready to install the new video card.

  • 4 Turn off the computer and disconnect it from the power source.
  • 5 Follow directions from the computer's user manual to open the case. In most cases, you'll just remove a side panel.
  • 6 Locate the AGP video slot. If there is a video card in it, remove the video card.
  • 7 Orient the new video card so that the metal bracket lines up with an open slot in the back of your computer and the gold contacts on the video card line up with the opening in the AGP connector.
  • 8 Push the new video card into the AGP slot with steady, gentle pressure.
  • 9 Connect any power cables to the power supply.
  • 10 Secure the video card in place with a screw through the card bracket into the computer case.
  • 11 Close up the case, following the computer manual's instructions.
  • 12 Reattach the power cord, monitor cable, keyboard and mouse.
  • 13 Power up your computer. Windows will detect the new video card and ask if you want to install it now. Click "OK" or "Yes."
  • 14 If prompted, direct Windows to the directory where the video drivers are located. Follow the prompts to install the drivers for the new video card.

    Remove the battery, wait several minutes, then re-insert battery & power-up again.

    If you have videos / pictures on a removable memory card, remove the memory card after removing the battery and upload the videos/pictures to your PC using a card reader.

    How do i install the asus geforce 8500gt 5189-2509?
    1. Turn your computer off.
    2. Disconnect the AC power-cord.
    3. Remove the side-panel that is *NOT* closest to the keyboard/mouse connectors.
    4. Unscrew the spine of the "old" video-card, and remove it.
    5. Measure the distance between the "spine" of the video-card and the first of the gold-pins on the connector on the video-card.
    6. Compare this distance with the "empty" slots on the motherboard,
    to find a match.
    7. Insert the new video-card, pushing until it is firmly seated.
    If it does not seat, the video-card that you purchased is *NOT* compatible with the slot on the motherboard. Stop, and re-insert the old video-card, and re-assess the situation.

    I loaded some software for a friend... on a new HP... she has an HDMI video card... i had to remove the card to get the standard video to work... now when i plugged the card back in... it will not bring up...
    Is it possible you uninstalled the driver for the HDMI video card in other to get the new video card to work? if so you will need to remove the HDMI video card and replace the standard card, start up the computer and reinstaill the driver for the HDMI card.

YOU CAN DO THIS IN CONTROL PANEL. ADMINASTRATIVE TOOLS THEN CLICK COMPUTER MANAGEMENT THEN CLICK DEVICE MANAGER GO TO YOUR DISPLAY DRIVERS AND DISABLE YOUR GRAPHICS CONTROLER. THAT SHOULD DO IT. HAPPY NEW YEAR.
