SOURCE: Brown spots coming from steam iron

you can mix 50% water with 50% vinager let it set in the iron overnight then turn it on and let the steam run out. What happens is the inside of the iron where the water is had corroded or rusted or has lime deposits.the vinager will break this loose overnight.also after you let the iron steam out all the mixture, flush the iron 4 to 5 times and start using fresh water from a store bought gallon.your tap water is probably full of iron.

SOURCE: Brown spots coming from steam iron

Fill with 50/50 water vinegar solution. Get it good and hot and let it sit for two hours. Rinse and repeat if necessary. Buy a gallon of water from the market and use that from now on. This will fix your problem. The Iron is concentrating the iron in you water and this is what is causing the brown spots. Hope you find this helpful. If you do please take the time to rate it fixya and maybe I will keep helping people for free.

SOURCE: my shark steam iron is leaking when ironing

It is quite possible that this is a defect in the shark G1490F... I had the same problem and it was a crack in the water holding tank caused by tightening the two front screws (hidden) that hold the tank to the base... It seemed fine at first but after a full heating it developed a crack where it had been weakened when it was assembled... I suggest returning it or if warranty is up , throw it away and get something else..

SOURCE: steam not working on iron then lots of water pouring out of holes

fill water chamber with vinegar and let it sit for 24 hours.
empty vinegar - fill with distilled water - turn on and press the steam button to clean the holes in the plate of mineral deposits which accumulate from using tap water. after a few shots of steam all should be clear - empty and refill with distilled water and it should be good to go.
