I have a Sandisk 16 MB CF card that has been installed in a Parker CTC Power Station (i.e. touchscreen) for the past 5 years. The touchscreen stopped working. I pulled out the CF card and tried to read it (in Windows Explorer) using a PC Card adapter in my laptop, and I get the error message "D:\ is not accessible. The media is write-protected."
Is this card most likely toast, or is it fixable?

It is locked by the previous device. You are not allowed to use it on other devices

That software only works with the non-Rhapsody versions, hence the error message. You can call technical support and they can walk you thru the fix. Its too much to type. SanDisk Technical Support 1-866-726-3475 Best of Luck.

have you tried to reformat the CF card? If you deleted the image through your computer and not with the camera, the computer may have removed more than what was needed...

You can't even format them when they are write-protected. I have the same problem with 2 different SD cards. The lock is in the off position but it still says they're write-protected and can't be formatted either.

Re-format it. Put the SanDisk 2GB microSD memory card into your LG enV2 and format it from there. If that does not work plug it into your laptop then right click the icon and format it to FAT and click on default settings.

I use a Nikon D300 and have Sandisk Compact Flash memory cards. i ahve not come across this problem but would suggest that you insert the memory card into your camera and reformat the memory card. This should clear any errors in the system BUT IT WILL ALSO WIPE ANY PHOTOGRAPHS YOU AHVE TAKEN when formating the memory card.
