You can replace individual laptop keys, see www.replacementlaptopkeys.com, but for the typewriter hmmm... email them, good luck.

On Ebay the key will cost about 5 buck, or the entire keyboard could be replaced for around 20 bucks. Here is the service manual just in case you want tochange the entire board......Check out page 46....

Keyboard is missing the D key what should I do
Hello

I would suggest that you just try to find the spesifick letter you need, a new keyboard for that device will cost you a new laptop. Go to any computer hardware store near you, they usually have odd parts that they give away, maybe you are lucky. Otherwise just contact the manufacturer and order the letter you need. Hope this can help you.

Replacable Keyboads
there are ways to replace laptop keyboards but it is expensive. try going to a computer repair shop, they may have a broken laptop with the same keys as yours. you can also get a external usb keyboard.

Missing key
Hi Allie18,
If the cat has not eaten the small plastic clips that fixes the key to the keyboard, you are in luck.
Just place the key over the keyboard, align it so it is square with the other keys, push it down firmly until it clicks into place.
If this does not work then you have some missing parts or bent piece of plastic.
If you are game, you can remove an adjoining key by lifting it up, then you can check this key and see if it matches the other key for missing or bent parts.
Your Dell supplier may have replacement keys, if not you will need to replace the whole keyboard.

Keyboard
Best to just replace the keyboard instead of trying to replace a missing key. Keyboards are made cheap and is a common part that is sold in almost any wal-mart, target, k-mart store in the elctronics section. If you have an expensive wireless keyboard from a manufatcurer like logitech, you may be able to get a replacement key from them. Contact the manufacturer for more information.
