SOURCE: removing base from tv
I researched this problem on the net and found the solution. Someone on one of the posts said the base can be removed by taking out four screws - all from the back of the TV. One screw is the one closest to the power plug, the next screw is beside it, the remaining two screws are the corresponding screws on the opposite side of the base panel (still on the back of the TV). Once these screws are removed the base comes off including the mounting bolt and the rectangular shaped plastic panel. There are no electronics or any components inside the base panel, only the bolt and plastic base which are held on by the four aforementioned screws. It was very easy to remove!

You may have to remove the back casing as often the neck will have a piece that prevents it from falling out. I hope this helps. If under warranty, i advise contacting the manufacturer to obtain the best way to do it as removing the back may result in a void warranty. Good Luck.
