Videotape stuck in vcr/tv combo.
Hello,
does the combo still power on? I think you didn't finish your question.
Whichever the case maybe, get a screw driver, disassemble the computer in order to gain access to the tape part of the combo.
Then you can manually remove the tape.
Press the "Power" button on the front of the combo to turn off the machine, then unplug the power cord on the back from the wall outlet.
Turn the combo unit upside down so that the top of the component rests on a flat surface.
Plug in the TV combo's power cord.
Press the "Power" button and immediately press the "Eject" button for the VCR. The two sprockets that engage the tape gears are normally underneath the cassette when the combo is in the normal, upright position. Now, with the unit upside down, the sprockets are positioned on top of the cassette, so there is less resistance on the plastic housing that holds the VHS tape. Pressing the "Eject" button quickly will often cause the tape to pop out on its own.
Pull the cassette out of the combo gently, as a portion of the VHS tape might have become tangled inside the mechanism.
Wiggle the tape while holding open the VHS cassette door to free the tape from the internal mechanism.

What brand and model is the t.v.? Usually a red blinking light is a code meaning something is wrong. Watch how many times it blinks and post the brand and model of the t.v. and how many times the stand by light blinks. First unplug it for at least 2 minutes and re-check all the cable connections to make sure they are plugged into the right places. Then plug the t.v. back in and turn it on first before you turn the cable box on. Good Luck, hope this helps.

Just unplug the device from AC mains wall socket and wait for about five minutes. Replug it and try. If it does not help you, insert a VCD [good known], and see whether it reads it. If it reads, try this with an ACD disc. If ACD and VCD disc can be read and play, and only DVD discs cannot play, or all of them does not reads at all; the Laser Pickup Unit inisde your device is faulty and should be repalced with same type and number. There will be a number; either printed or by sticker on the laser pickup unit [Lens unit]. Note this number. The same number should be replaced because it is a critical part in your system. You have to open your device and take out the DVD mechanism outside to repalce this unit. You must have knoledge in electronics, and have the ability to disassemble and reassemble the DVD chasis mechanism.
In most cases, about 98%, this fault will be due to this laser pickup unit itself. Before begin repair, insert a cleaning disc in it and play for at least 3 times. If the fault is with any dirt or dust accumulated on the pickup lens, it will be cleaned out by this preocess. Even after this fault prevails, replace the Laser Pickup Unit. OK.

Hi,
The issue you describe is consistent with a power supply board issue. This is the board where the AC goes to. This problem may have occurred as a result of irregular power supply, or excess power supply or power surge.....
The TV is receiving current but cannot circulate or transfer the current to other necessary part of the TV because of the defective power supply board. You might be lucky it's just a blow fuse. Also a defective transformer can cause your TV not to power on.
All these can be checked on the power supply board.
But more often bad capacitors causes problem on the power supply board. I do not think the power board needs replacement, rather those defective capacitors is causing this issue. Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board.You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others.
The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes) . You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes.
What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point).
You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like "mcmelectronics.com"(look for electrolytic capacitors). After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored. Or you can by a refurbished complete power board to save you some stress.
Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board,but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue.
If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.

Usually, if you push the Channel button beyond the number of channels you have, it will proceed through the Active Inputs, or Aux 1 and 2. If not, you may want to check if your TV has a Source or Input button on it. Else, check the Menu for Input selections.

Your LCD lamp may have burnt out or the component usually a driver transistor that drives the lamp to glow may have been defective. Some of LCD have fuses on this section that automatically opens when there was a problem. A qualified electronic service technician could figure out your problem right away if you don't have any experience in electronics troubleshooting.

unless you know how to open a plat panel tv you can check the fuse if it's busted or is it your tv is 110v and somebody plug it to 220v the fuse busted first then some parts maybe affected too

I just hooked up my
I had this exact same problem after setting this model DVD player up. I put in a disc thinking I would listen to the movie while working on some other projects and would call tech support in the AM.
Putting in the disc fixed the problem. If there is a disc in the system, I do not have this issue. If thee is not, it does the same thing while it is on.

Unfortunately from what your are describing the problem will be in the main power section of the tv. This means a trip to the repair shop.
The actual problem could be fairly simple but the real problem is how much will it cost to get it fixed. So you need to figure out if you have any warrenty either factory or extended store. If you do then get it to the shop. If not covered You need to do a few things first. You want to know what the replacement cost of a new tv is, and then you want to start getting a few repair estimates. If the repair costs are too high you get a expensive used unwarrantied tv that may break again. The hard part is figuring out at what point you need to just junk it and buy the new one if the value of the repairs is less than the new one. That's really your only reference if it is worth repairing. It is definitely repairable but there is no sense spending $400 for a new main board if the new tv is $450 as an example.
If you can find a good repair shop that actualy repairs then the repair cost can be cheap. Unfortunately a lot of repair shops just swap out boards so you spend $400 for a new board when the problem was a 50 cent part.
